ABOUT
The Nigerian Youth Internet Governance Forum (NYIGF) is a platform which aims to empower young people to be part of public policy Internet discussions which affect the lives of us all.
It is a multi-stakeholder, bottom-up and youth-led initiative which creates an open platform for Nigerian Youth to engage in Internet governance discussions. We are introducing Internet governance to the youth community in Nigeria and empowering Nigerian youth to be a voice of influence through participation in Internet-related policy discussions.
The Nigerian Youth IGF provides the Nigerian youth community with the opportunity to get involved and participate in Internet Governance discussions in national, regional and international platforms and to facilitate a common understanding of how to maximize Internet opportunities and address risks and challenges that arise.
The outcomes of this initiative shall be forwarded to the national IGF (NIGF) as the contributions of the Nigerian youth to the development of the Internet ecosystem in Nigeria.
The core objectives of the NYIGF is to;
- Interface Nigerian youth with stakeholders from the Nigerian internet ecosystem to discuss public policy issues related to key elements of Internet governance in order to foster the sustainability, robustness, security, stability, and development of the Internet.
- Enable Nigerian youth Identify emerging internet related issues, bring them to the attention of the relevant bodies and the general public, and, where appropriate, make recommendations;
- Strengthen and enhance the contribution of Nigerian youth to capacity building for Internet governance in Nigeria
